Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is also called Brain attack or Stroke. A stroke occurs when blood flow is blocked to a part of the brain either by blockage or a rupture of a blood vessel. There are two types of Cerebrovascular Accident: Ischemic Stroke and Hemorrhagic Stroke. The condition can be under control by maintaining normal blood pressure, controlled diabetes, maintain a healthy weight, taking rich diet with fruits & vegetables, refrain from smoking & drink alcohol and regular exercise.
The major factors that may increase the risk of CVA:
- Cigarette smoking
- High blood pressure
- High blood cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Atherosclerosis
Some of the symptoms of Cerebrovascular Accident:-
- Dizziness
- Sudden headache
- Difficulty in walking
- Loss of coordination and imbalance
- Numbness or partial paralysis
- Difficulty in speaking
- Blurred vision
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of Cerebrovascular Accident. The treatment depends on the type of the stroke and the recovery period varies depending on a severity of the stroke.
