Cerebral Palsy is a general term used for group of movement and posture disorders due to a non-progressive damage to the developing brain of a fetus or an infant. The symptoms of cerebral palsy are different in each person ranging from mildly affected minimal disability to highly challenged conditions. Dystonic Cerebral Palsy is classified with involuntary muscle spasms and unwanted movement which are sometimes painful. These are a result of incorrect signals from the brain that cause unwanted movements.
Some of the symptoms of Cerebral Palsy Dystonia:-
- Neck problems
- Hand problems
- Voice problems
- Blinking and eyelid problems
- Muscle spasms
- Tremor
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of Dystonia. The treatment depends on the condition of the person, it can be physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or speech language therapy and more.
