Cellulitis is a serious bacterial skin infection usually affected on the skin of the lower legs. It appears as a swollen, red, tender and inflamed that may spread rapidly. Cellulitis occurs when one or more types of bacteria enter the skin through an injury. Streptococcus and Staphylococcus are two common bacteria that cause cellulitis. Several factors that develop high risk of the condition include:
- Injury through fracture or burn
- Skin conditions
- Weak immune system
- Chronic swelling of legs and arms
- Obesity
- Intravenous drug use
- History of cellulitis

- Swelling

- Warmth in the affected area

Consult a doctor if you have signs of cellulitis. The condition needs early treatment if the skin rash is associated with fever as the delay can cause a serious infection by spreading rapidly throughout the body.
