Cat Scratch Disease (CSD) is also called Cat Scratch Fever is an infection caused by bacteria known as Bartonella henselae carried by cats. This infection is caused after being scratched or bitten by a cat. A small lump may be developed at the site of injury within 10 days and people having normal immune system are not in serious condition with cat scratch disease. Possible complications from Cat Scratch Fever may include:
- Encephalopathy
- Neuroretinitis
- Osteomyelitis
- Parinaud's syndrome
Some of the symptoms of Cat Scratch Fever:-
- Chills
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Swollen lymph
- Weight loss
- Inflammation and soreness
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of Cat scratch disease. The condition is usually not dangerous but may antibiotics for serious cases.
