The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a part of the digestive system in a body which helps in digestion of food. It takes nutrients as vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, proteins and water from the food and helps pass wastes out from the body. Gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors are formed in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and the tumors form from a certain type of neuroendocrine cell. GI carcinoid tumors are rare ad most of them grow slowly. The tumor may occur in the duodenum, jejunum & ileum, colon, and rectum. The symptoms may vary depending on the area of the tumor existence.
