Brachial plexus is a network of nerves that provides movement to the shoulder, arm and hand. The brachial plexus injury occurs in the nerves in the network are stretched, compressed or torn when shoulder is pressed down and head forcefully pushed away from the shoulder. Brachial Injuries usually occur during sports, difficult births, trauma, inflammation, tumors and during radiation treatment.
Some of the symptoms of Brachial plexus injury:
- Pain
- Loss of sensation
- Muscle weakness
- Paralysis of some or all muscles in shoulder and upper limb
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of brachial plexus injuries. The doctor may suggest some tests followed by medication depending on the condition.
