Brachial Neuritis is also known as Parsonage-Turner syndrome. It is a condition that inflames nerves that control shoulder, arm and hand. It may begin suddenly and the frequent pain during the night and sometimes called neuralgic amyotrophy. Certain factors like recent infection by bacteria or virus, a parasite infestation, surgery, vaccinations, accidental injury, medical procedures as lumbar puncture, giving birth may trigger the condition.
Some of the symptoms of Brachial Neuritis:
- Sudden and intense shoulder pain (often in right shoulder)
- Stabbing or burning pain
- Pain becomes worse with movement
- Shortness of breath
- Numbness developed in shoulder or arm
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of sudden and intense pain in the shoulder. The doctor may suggest few tests and is followed by medication.
