Bone Spur is referred as Osteophyte or parrot beak. It is the bony growth along the margin of joints on the normal bones. Bone spurs are commonly developed on spine, shoulder, hands, hips, knees and feet. Usually, bone spurs are formed when the body tries to repair itself by building extra bone. Calcification and new bone formation may occur due mechanical damage in joints.
Some of the symptoms of Bone Spurs:
- Painful sometimes
- Pinching in the spinal cord
- Weakness and numbness in arms and legs
- Reduced range of motion
- Swelling and tearing in the rotator cuff
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of pain and swelling persistently in one or more joints. Early treatment may help in further damage.
