Biliary Atresia is an uncommon disorder of liver and bile ducts in infants. The symptoms can be observed from two to eight weeks after birth. Baby suffering with biliary atresia will have the blockage of bile flowing from the liver to gallbladder which results in damage and scarring of the liver cells that gradually leads to liver failure. The actual causes of biliary atresia are unknown and reports show it is more affected in girls than boys.
Some of the symptoms of Biliary Atresia:
- Jaundice
- Dark urine
- Clay-colored stools
- Weight loss and irritability
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of jaundice and other health disorders. The doctor may suggest few tests to diagnose the condition and give medication.
