Azoospermia is commonly referred as no sperm count. It is a medical condition of a man to have no minimum levels of sperm count in his semen. Azoospermia can be classified as Pretesticular azoospermia, Testicular azoospermia, Posttesticular azoospermia and Idiopathic azoospermia. The major cause can be due to problem with sperm production, hormonal problems, testicular failure, varicocele and sperm production is normal but cannot reach ejaculation due to blockage.
Some of the conditions that cause Azoospermia:
- Severe illness
- Diabetes mellitus
- Sickle cell anemia
- Sperm autoimmunity
- Cancer treatment
- Pesticide or toxin exposure
- Hemochromatosis
- Unexplained genetic infertility
- Testosterone supplements
- Epididymitis
