Autoimmune Thyroiditis is a disorder of thyroid gland due to autoimmunity. It is also called Hashimoto\'s thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. Autoimmune thyroid diseases are usually hereditary in origin but may be triggered by environmental factors as infection, certain drugs and iodine consumption. The disorder more likely affects women and people between ages 40 & 60.
Some of the symptoms of Autoimmune Thyroiditis:
- Fatigue and sluggishness
- Constipation
- Pale and dry skin
- Depression
- Pain and stiffness in joints
- Muscle pain and tenderness
- Sudden weight gain
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of dry skin, severe tiredness, constipation, and hoarse voice. Early diagnosis and treatment would reduce the severity of the problem and help in quick recovery.
