Atrioventricular block is commonly called AV block. It involves impairment of conduction between atria and ventricles of the heart. The AV blocks occur in 3 types: First degree AV block, Second degree AV block, and Third degree AV block. Generally first degree AV is associated with no symptoms but can be recognized on electrocardiography, Second degree AV block is usually asymptomatic with irregular heartbeat and Third degree AV block is frequently associated with symptoms as fatigue, dizziness, light- headedness, presyncope and syncope.
Some of the symptoms of Atrioventricular block:
- Chest pain
- Dyspnea
- Confusion
- Pulmonary edema
