Arthritis in neck is also called Cervical Spondylosis or Cervical Osteoarthritis. Neck Arthritis is degeneration of joints in neck with age. It is commonly observed in people over 60 years. Disk degeneration and bone spurs meaning over growth of bones may be one of the major cause for spondylosis in neck. Smoking, Genetics, injury or trauma, depression or anxiety, occupation which involves lot of neck motion are some of the factors that trigger the risk of Neck Spondylosis.
Some of the symptoms of Neck Arthritis:
- Pain and stiffness in neck
- Numb feeling in arms, hands and fingers
- Having trouble in walking and loss of balance
- Head ache
- Grinding and popping sound in neck
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult an Orthopedic or Arthritis specialist if you have signs of neck spondylosis. The doctor may suggest surgical or non surgical treatment depending on the severity of the case.
