Arterial Occlusive Disease is Atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. A fatty substance called plaque is accumulated on inner walls of arteries that narrow the arteries path decreasing the blood supply to some parts of the body. People with family history of atherosclerosis, diabetics, high blood pressure, and smoking are some of the factors that increase the risk of Atherosclerosis.
Some of the symptoms of Arterial Occlusive Disease:
- Pain and cramps in feet
- Pain in calves or thighs while walking
- Poor healing of wounds
- Ulcers on feet and legs
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of pain and severe discomfort in legs and when you wounds taking long time to heal. Early diagnosis is important for right treatment.
