Arterial Insufficiency is stopping or restricting enough blood flow through arteries which is typically caused by atherosclerosis. The fatty substance called plaque is formed on the walls of arteries resulting in narrow and stiff path in arteries. Arterial Insufficiency may affect different parts of the body depending on the affected arteries in the body. Symptoms may vary with the artery involved.
Some of the symptoms of Arterial Insufficiency:
- Leg cramps when walking (if arteries in legs affected)
- Chest pain (if arteries in heart affected)
- Heart attack (if arteries in heart affected)
- Stroke (if arteries in brain affected)
- Pain after eating (if arteries in belly area affected)
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have frequent chest pain and discomfort after eating that worries you. Early diagnosis and treatment would reduce the risk.
