Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD) is also called Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). It is a genetically inherited heart disorder. ARVD is caused by genetic defects of the parts of heart muscle (called myocardium or cardiac muscle) where the heart muscle of the right ventricle is filled by fat or fibrous tissue. This leads to poor dilation and contraction of right ventricle that weakens heart in pumping blood. This would increase the risk of sudden cardiac arrest or death.
Some of the symptoms of Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD):
- Irregular heart rhythms
- Palpitations in chest
- Dizziness
- Swelling in ankles, legs and feet
- Shortness in breadth
