Anorectal abscess is a collection of pus in the anal or rectal region, which may be caused by infection of an anal fissure, sexually transmitted infections or due to blockage of anal glands.
Anorectal Fistula occurs in 40% of the people who are suffering from anorectal abscesses. It may be associated with malignancy, tuberculosis, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and actinomycosis.
Some of the symptoms of Anorectal Abscess:
- Pain and swelling
- Fever
- Diffused pelvic pain
- Discomfort when walking or sitting
Some of the symptoms of Anorectal Fistula:
- Pus through fistulae
- Itching sensation
- Skin maceration
