Not all the insect stings trigger allergies on human body. Honey Bee, wasp, yellow jacket, hornet, fire ants are some insects that cause severe allergy, the allergen is venom from their stings. The insect sting reaction varies from person to person; there are 3 types of reactions to insect stings: normal, localized and allergic.
A normal reaction for insect sting can produce pain, redness and swelling in the area of sting bite, a local reaction results in extending the swelling beyond or around the sting bite and the allergic reaction is the most serious reaction which should not be neglected.
Some of the symptoms of Allergic reactions to insect stings:
- Breathing difficulty
- Swelling of face, throat or mouth tissue
- Rapid pulse
- Dizziness
- Drop in blood pressure
- Difficulty in swallowing

Consult an allergy specialist or a general physician when you have the severe symptoms after insect sting.
