After graduating from JIPMER, Pondicherry, one of the top medical colleges in the country, he went on to complete his general surgical residency at JLNHRC (SAIL hospital) in Bhilai and was awarded his board certification in General surgery. Thereafter, he also became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, London UK. Subsequently he trained extensively in the field of Surgical Oncology at Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata, one of the top cancer centres in eastern India.
