About

Dr Joy Shome is Head of TAVI and Senior Consultant at BM Birla Heart Research Centre. 
He started his 21 year career at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, in the year 2004. In 2006, he moved to Liverpool to pursue higher training at the Liverpool University Hospital.
He began his Cardiology training in 2011 under the Northern Deanery of National Health Service (NHS). In 2019, he successfully completed his training and registered as a NHS specialist Cardiology Consultant. He has worked as a Consultant at multiple hospitals since then.
Dr Shome was one of the highest volume TAVI operators in the UK. He has performed over 2000 procedures of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), many of which were complex cases from the high/extreme risk patient groups. He has performed over 700 procedures of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).
