Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy is one of the renowned gastroenterologists in the country who has been acclaimed as one of the best gastroenterologists in the world. Dr. Reddy is the Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, located in Hyderabad, and which is reputed to be the biggest gastroenterology hospital in the world. Dr. Nageshwar Reddy's foray into the world of medicine began when he joined the famous Kurnool Medical College in Kurnool. Whilst pursuing medicine, he received a number of awards and recognition for being one of the best students in the college. He was also awarded the Dr P Siva Reddy Gold Medal for the Best Out-Going Student in M.B.B.S in 1978.

Dr. Reddy received the Padma Shri award in 2002, one of the highest civilian awards given by the Government of India,   for excellence in the field of medicine. He has, to his credit, a number of achievements  for his contribution to the field of medicine.
