After completing his post-graduation (MD) with a Gold Medal, he obtained the DM superspeciality degree in Neurology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Currently practising in Kanpur, Dr. Uttam performs intravenous thrombolysis in acute ischaemic stroke, and also offers botulinum toxin (Botox) therapy. He is attached to the Regency Hospital Limited and runs his personal evening clinic in Kakadeo. Dr. Ashwani Kumar Uttam's areas of interest include Stroke, Epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, Myasthenia gravis, Peripheral neuropathy, Myopathy (muscles disorder) and neurological emergencies.
