Dr. Alakendu Ghosh

Dr. Alakendu Ghosh is one of the renowned rheumatologists in Kolkata. He is the Professor and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the Institute of Post Graduate Medical and Education and Research. He was also an active member of BJD Bone and Joint Decade India from 2001-2010 which is an umbrella organization encompassing all those who were connected with the bone and joint.

According to Dr. Ghosh, "Early recognition of symptoms is the key. Joint pain that improves with activity with the signature early morning stiffness needs physician's consultation. Morning joint stiffness that lasts for more than half hour to an hour, symmetrical joint pains coupled with low grade fever and fatigue, swelling in three or more joints are signs of rheumatoid arthritis."

He participated in many seminars addressing issues on various aspects of arthritis, particularly their treatment modalities and also the role of diet and exercise.
