Dr. Ajit Sood is working as a Professor & Head of the Gastroenterology Department at Dayananad Medical College(DMC & H) & Hospital, Ludhiana which is NABH accredited and is the biggest tertiary care hospital in Punjab. The hospital provides state of the art service in gastroenterology, liver diseases and endoscopic procedures. The Department also runs Post-Doctor teaching program (DM) for the last 10 years.

Dr. Sood's personal areas of interest include IBD ( Inflammatory Bowel Disease), Celiac Disease & Hepatitis-C. He has done pioneer work on documenting prevalence of Hepatitis-C, Ulcerative Colitis (UC) & Celeac disease. He is working on identifying safer wheat varieties for celiac patients and conducting patient awareness program  for prevention of hepatitis-C.

The Role of FMT (Fecal Microbiota Transplant) therapy in IBD is being explored. FMT is being used at our centre for Steroid dependant Ulcerative Colitis, Pouchitis, Steroid refractory Ulcerative Colitis, Frequent relapses, in maintenance of remission in Ulcerative Colitis, Ileocaecal crohn’s.
