Bethesda Hospital, Vellore

As the need for medical care increased, plans were made to construct a small hospital.  The Board of Missions of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod had seen the need for medical services and decided to go ahead with the building of a Mission Hospital in the Northern part of its Mission field, which, unlike Nagercoil and Trivandrum in the South, was poorly provided with such facilities. The question, as to where to construct this Mission Hospital, caused a lively debate, some being strongly in favour of Krishnagiri to the South because it was more remote.
