The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, located in Kochi is one of the premier institutes in the country that offers excellent medical and nursing services. The Institute was inaugurated on the 17th of May 1988 by the then Prime Minister of our country, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in the presence of Her Holiness, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Within a span of 17 years, AIMS as the hospital is known as, has grown to a 1450 bed super-specialty tertiary care health centre with an attached medical college.
The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences offers an extensive range of modern facilities that include infrastructure, 25 modern operating theatres, NABL accredited modern diagnostic laboratories, and a fully digital radiology department. AIMS is equipped with 12 Super Specialty departments and 45 other departments located on a 33,30,000 sq. ft of built-up area spread over 125 acres of land. The Institute has a daily patient turnout of about 3000 outpatients and has 95 percent in-patient occupancy.
