Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad

The Asian Institute of Gastroenterology located at Hyderabad could be said to be one of the best gastroenterology hospitals in the country. It was established on a small scale in 1994 and was later expanded into a super specialty hospital as a new concept of day-care unit. Here even major endoscopic surgical procedures are performed as an outpatient basis without any hospitalization. The institute is the brainchild of Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy who is one of the most eminent gastroenterologists in the country.

The hospital has since then earned a name for itself as one of the largest referral centers in Asia for therapeutic endoscopy. Patients not only come here from all over the country but from neighboring countries of Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. 

The institute has been credited for doing the largest number of ERCP procedures in the world. It is one of the few centers in the country that does Endoscopic Ultra Sonography, Endoscopic Sewing, Capsule Endoscopy, and Extra Corporeal Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL).
